On January 24, 2003, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) was established as a Public Sector Undertaking, motivated by the vision of the late Honourable Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The need to remedy the Indian Railways’ lack of infrastructure led to the founding of RVNL. The National Rail Vikas Yojana (NRVY) was first announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on August 15, 2002, at an address from the Red Fort.
